RE: Update on Staring Lane Widening Project and date of next scheduled meeting

DATE: March 13, 2006 (typed on March 19, 2006)

At this time, we see no need to meet because of a lack of concrete data/information as related to the Staring Lane portion of the Green Light Plan. We will keep you informed via telephone or written correspondence as promised previously.

Please find below a summary of contacts, times, dates and communication we had with city/parish official and engineers as related to plans for Staring Lane widening:

City/Parish Engineer David Guillory – Talked to him at his office on March 13, 2006, 4 p.m., and he had the following comments:
All remains about the same: NO decision has been made concerning the project on Staring Lane. He did tell that this decision would come from the “top down” (Mayor’s Office to Engineers).
Will have a chronological listing of all projects to include dates to being and complete each by April 15, 2006.
He asked me again to e-mail him requesting the above data on or prior to the 15th. I will then inform you of his response immediately.

Several Board members (Pete Territo, Bill Herke, Howard Polk, Brunetta Shamlin and I) met on March 13, 2006, to entertain a proposal Bill had related to opening the end of Staring Lane to Burbank. After much deliberation, we decided to let the engineers design such a plan. We also decided to request a meeting with the engineering firm (CSRS) that has the contract with the city/parish. Bill visited the office of this firm with the request for the meeting. Sure enough, the firm is arranging a meeting with us on or about April 7, 2006. We are really excited to know that we might have an opportunity to give some initial input into what will be proposed for Staring Lane. Will keep you informed.

Be reminded that every effort toward making our concerns heard is appreciated. Always feel free to call or visit us at 225-766-9439 or at 402 Staring Lane. Thanks again!
